Jose Magnaye is an Associate at KNOETZL specializing in international commercial and investment arbitration. Before joining KNOETZL he held a research and teaching position in Public International Law at the Department of European, International and Comparative Law of the University of Vienna and was part of the research project on “International Investment Arbitration and the Rule of Law” funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
Jose holds a law degree from the University of Vienna, where he currently pursues his PhD on the topic of jurisdiction and admissibility in investor-state arbitration. In 2014, he participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court and in 2017, he coached the Austrian team.
During his studies Jose worked as legal assistant in an employment law boutique firm in Vienna and was actively engaged in projects for the European Forum Alpbach and the United Nations Youth and Student Association. He is a member of the Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP), the International Law Association (ILA Austrian Branch), the European Society of International Law (ESIL), and the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (Young ICCA). He currently serves as Member of the Board of the Forum Alpbach Network (FAN).
