Leonie Liebenwein
Senior Associate
Leonie is a Senior Associate at KNOETZL, where she focuses on complex international commercial and investment arbitration. She has extensive experience acting as counsel and tribunal secretary in proceedings under major arbitration rules, including VIAC, ICC, and ICSID.
Prior to joining KNOETZL, Leonie was an associate in the International Arbitration Group of a leading U.S. law firm in London. She also served for several years as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Vienna’s Department of Civil Procedure, where she specialized in international commercial arbitration and taught courses in civil procedure and arbitration law.
Leonie is admitted to the New York Bar.
She holds a law degree from the University of Vienna, graduating among the top of her class, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. During her studies, she was awarded multiple merit-based scholarships. At Harvard, she served as Vice President of the Harvard International Arbitration Law Students Association and focused on U.S. corporate and capital markets law.
At the University of Vienna, Leonie co-founded the alumni association “Junge Rechtswissenschaft” for top-ranking law students. She was a member of the University of Vienna’s Vis Moot team, which received multiple awards, and later co-coached the team through three further award-winning years.
Leonie is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in international commercial arbitration at the University of Vienna and is a member of the Ars Iuris Vienna Doctoral School.
