Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration

Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration

The Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration was officially launched during the Vienna Arbitration Days that took place on 9-10 May 2025. In this year’s edition, Associate Arnela Maglic and Amelie Huber-Starlinger share insights from their vivid and engaging discussion at the Arbitration World Café on the topic of “ESG: Finding common ground – mediating ESG disputes”, during the 2024 edition. Their contribution explores the complexities of ESG-related disputes and highlights the critical role mediation can play in resolving them. As ESG obligations become increasingly embedded in corporate policies and legal frameworks worldwide, the need for tailored dispute resolution mechanisms is more pressing than ever.

As the authors concluded “Mediation does not only serve to resolve the dispute at hand, but it provides for the possibility of parties to re-establish relations and enter into new commitments and businesses”.
